Hello, I recently brought a vostro 1500, it arrived on Tuesday. After using a bit, I've found some problems with the laptop. Firstly, when I put it on a flat surface, the laptop is wobbly. I think the bottom right thing is uneven, causing it to wobble when I rest my hands to the right of the touchpad. Another thing is an odd creaking sound that occurs towards the left of the keyboard. For some reason, the creaking only occurs when the laptop has been turned on for awhile. Also, when the laptop is closed, the screen seems to be bouncy, meaning when it is closed, and I press the screen down, it becomes wobbly. Lastly, there seems to be a slight problem with the touchpad buttons, the left button seems to be more "clicky" than the right.

I just wanted to check if anyone has these problems also, and if I should call dell about it. The screen is perfect, no stuck or dead pixels, and Im worried if I was to exchange it, the next one might contain them.

    Thanks.

The screen does sort of bounce when it's closed and you try to push it. I'm assuming it's the latch not being so perfect.

Alright, I managed to solve the mystery of the uneven laptop, the only problem that disturbs me is the creaking noise to the left of the keyboard. It only happens when the laptop is running for awhile, I assume it starts creaking when it produces a lot of heat. Is there anyway I can fix this? I've tried tightening the screws but it did nothing. Thanks for clearing up about the latch thing though.

    I have VOSTRO Problems,

I have just joined this site cause I am getting pissed off with the performance of my laptop, my specs are similiar to yours,

    T7500 - 2.2GHZ, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 120GB (5400RPM) , GeForce 8600MGT ( 69.12 ) DDR2, Windows Vista 32Bit.

My performance is pretty poor on games like Crysis, and NFS Pro Street, can only run them in low graphics normally, and poor FPS!

Any ideas at all would be great
    Thanks
    George

I have a 15.4 Inch tru brite screen, I am not sure why I can't get good performance on games, its killing me at the moment!!

Do you think switching to XP pro would make that much of a difference?

I'd send it back if it has all these problems.. The wobbly screen is normal, all of them are like that.. the other problems have happened to others, but aren't so common so send it back.. you payd for a new laptop and you should get a 100% working one

Is your power settings on max performance? Look at the bottom right battery/plug icon, click and and click max performance.

More details? What do you mean by hang up, a full system lockup?

thanks for replying. ok, for more details. yes it is a system lock up. suddenly, when im just streaming videos or just leaving my laptop on idle it would just stop working. i already sent this laptop to dell. and just recently, i locked up so i tried rebooting. but the problem was it would also lock up just before the vista sign would pop up. the part where vista is loading. i thought it would not open anymore. help me please. im already close to burning my laptop and create a dell beware blogsite!!!!!!!!!!!!
