Hey jbjarko, I recently installed a 2gb stick in my vostro that had 1gb, so now I have 2.5gb. My vostro is the T5470 with 8400m graphics.
Tell me if you notice much difference once you get that thing installed. All I noticed was a slightly faster shutdown and maybe a slightly faster startup... that's about it. I'm talking less than five seconds here...
So let me know how it turns out for you.
    Thanks.
