    hi guys

i really need your help, came across this forum while looking for some solution to BSOD. well i would assume that the scene is kinda familiar to people around here. Woke up in the morning and instead of hitting the power button hit the Media direct button and ever since i could not load XP and it comes up with the blue screen with the following error code.

    stop 0x000000CA (0X00000001,0X83ABF7B8, 0X8387E368, 0x00000000)
 the middle two parts keep changing in the above bracket

Tried to start it in safe mode, came up wid the same blue screen. tried booting from the CD as well, last known good config. Absolutely nothing seems to be working.

I dont want to format my hard disk, are there any options apart from that ??

any help would be highly appreciated

    thanks a ton in advance

    Cheers!!!!

Don't quote me on this. But some have had problems with it beefing your boot, and by pressing the button again it restores the boot to normal.

Did you by chance do a clean install? If so, it sounds like you did not install MediaDirect correctly

i never reinstalled windows or media direct on it.the problem just seems to have popped out of nowhere.
i tried pressing MD key during shutdown but it doesnt make a difference. Also i tried to boot into MD just it case it might fix up the problem but no luck so far.

That's really odd actually, I did have something here about fixing the MBR, but that doesn't seem to be the problem in this case. Anytime that I had MD problems on my XPS m140, it was always "Operating System Not Found". I never got a BSOD because of it.
