    Hi there,
am I the only one to have experienced an increase of the CPU temperature (a T7300) after upgrading the bios?
I've had the A00 until a few days ago and then I decided it was time to upgrade.

With A00 I was running at 26-30 °C and I've been some five hours without fully discharging the battery.
With A06 I happen to run (in the same conditions, if not in a cooler environment) at 42-47 °C and the battery seems to be lasting around four hours (I haven't tried it till full discharge, but that's the trend).

Sadly I have also updated a few drivers from Dell's website (I know, I should have done one update at a time... haste makes waste :-( ), hence I'm not 100% sure the bios is the cause.
(But I've read that in bios subsequent to the first release, DELL tried to fix the humming problem by disabling low power states).

Question: anyone have had higher temps after upgrading the bios?
Question: is it safe to downgrade the bios, someone has already done that before? I would not like to brick my laptop now that the 1 year warrant is over by one week.

    Thanks for any advidce.

I always live by the phrase "if it aint broke, dont fix it". Have you tried going back to the old bios?

Actually I tried that update because it promised improvement in managing optical drives, and the DVD was soooo slow...
As for 'falling back', that is what I would like to do. But before doing that I wanted to know if someone had completed the downgrade with success.
Playing with the BIOS could brick the laptop; certain vendors do not allow 'going back' to older versions.

Anyone succeded in downgrading the bios on a DELL?

    What the...!
I hadn't read yet about the nVidia issues for the 8600M GT.
And the one year warranty is over, now.

I guess the shorter battery life has somethng to do with this. But the higher temps?

You can flash back to any bios you want. FWIW, I have no problems with temps and bios A06.

I upgraded from A00 to A06 and actually saw cooler temps on my 1500. I measure 108 when idle and that is down about 12 degrees from what it was.
