I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 Build 7100 and everything installed fine. I even have audio drivers and the volume icon on the systray. However, There is no sound coming out of my speakers.

If anybody knows how to resolve this issue I'd greatly appreciate it if you left your feedback.

Admin: Can you please fix the topic. It should read "1400" and not "14000". Thanks.

Update: If I plug in my external speakers I can hear sound. But when I unplug them I hear nothing but the built in ones.

Bah, last two times I've seen this happen, it's been a hardware fault. You might have just gotten unlucky having this coincide with your Win 7 installation. I'd try going back to your original OS and seeing if you get sound. If you do, it's probably just Windows 7 being a jerk. Otherwise, bad news...

    Also, Vostro 14000 :D

I am running both Vista and Windows 7 in different partitions as a dual boot.
I know the problem lies with Windows 7 because, the speakers work fine in Vista.

Thanks, hope someone knows how to resolve this. I like Win 7 much better, it just sucks that I can't enjoy the sound from my laptop speakers.

In Windows7, the audio subsystem has been changed a bit: http://channel9.msdn.com/posts/Charles/Inside-Windows-7-Larry-Osterman-on-new-audio-capabilities/

I can't remember the exact contents of that video because I've watched it some months ago, and I don't have the time now to have a deeper look at all that, but I thought I'd post this anyways because it's most definitely where your solution is.

And it's always fun to watch Larry Osterman talk. :)

Thanks Buddy! I'll try it when I get home from work. I also have the side scrolling problem with the touchpad as you do.

    Regards,
