    Hi All,

I have vostro 1400, I am facing problem with my keyboard , It get stuck many times and hangs my computer. sometimes it doesn't even work at the startup. Actually what happens is the media buttons which u can see in the attachment glow up means they show a sign that they have been pressed after that my keyboard doesn't work and some times keypad also doesn't work. I tried running diagnostics testing which was passed, also I have checked the custom test for keyboard which was also working fine. I have tried connecting external keyboard but I was facing same problem, I tried disconnecting the internal keyboard from the motherboard but same problem was there, so it seems to me like some other problem. Kindly let me know if any one has the solution of this thing, I am really living like a  person without my lappy. Please help me. Thanks in advance!

    Regards,
    Pawan Chopra.

I suppose you could try popping the plastic panel at the top out, then lifting the keyboard, popping up the little latch, and re-seat it, making certain it gets complete contact, but I kinda doubt that's the problem.

If you happen to have a Linux LiveCD you could boot, and check out the keyboard within that environment, that would be a good way to test it.

    Hi Pixelot,

I have done your process as I told in my first post that I had tried popping up the little latch, and re-seat it but it doesn't work. I have this problem on both linux and windows. thanks for your suggestions.

    Regards,
    Pawan.

Is it under warranty? I would ask Dell to fix it. :p
