Alright, this is an odd problem. When I try to install my upgrade copy of XP onto my Vostro 1310 it won't recognize the windows 2000 disk when it asks for it a previous version of windows. I've done installs like this before and have tested installing with these particualr disks on another computer and it works fine, but with the 1310 it just doesn't want to work. In addition to that, after it rejects the ME disk the system won't eject the thing unless I restart the computer.

Anyone have any idea what could be going wrong?

"the system won't eject the thing unless I restart the computer."

It sounds like the optical drive isn't working right.

I've had damaged CDs not want to eject.

It doesn't sound this way, but is the problem with the Win2000 disc caused by not enabling SATA Compatibility mode in the BIOS?
