I just did a fresh Windows 8 install on my V131. The install went quite smoothly, and Dell has provided all required drivers except a) fingerprint software (Dell provided driver, but not software) and b)trackpad drivers (Win 7 version works, except you use vertical scrolling on the start screen for horizontal movement).

Does anybody know where I can get the fingerprint software?

It's been about a month since I've had Win 8 running on the V131 so I thought I'd post a short report. I'm happy to say that the experience is quite nice. Even with all my software installed, Windows 8 is snappy and boot/shutdown times seem to be SSD fast even though I'm using the Dell provided 7200RPM HD. The Synaptics website recently posted their Win 8 drivers, so little quirks (e.g. vertical scrolling controls horizontal movement in Metro) have been resolved. Multi-touch with the trackpad seems to be a lot better in Win 8.

The only problem I have is that the screen flickers (tears?) from time to time. This official Dell drivers work best to minimize this. The drivers in the Win 8 driver database are bad (lots of flickering) and the drivers from the Intel website are only a tiny bit better.

    No comments on Metro :)
