I've noticed that with Windows Vista or 7 I am able to scale the fonts when using high resolution (1900x1200) and get a decent result, but with Windows XP the result is pretty bad, what are my options ?, are there any third party tools available to acomplish that ?, thanks

I got used to it in XP after a while, I still use standard font size in W7. I have a 15.4" WUXGA screen. Just give it a little time and see whether you get used to it or not.

Heh, oddly enough I actually sit pretty fair away from my screen too (external keyboard and mouse). I am 100% sure you can make XP text bigger (XP gives you options of standard, large, XL). You can scale text size in web browsers and word docs anyway.

You can also try leaving the font size as normal and changing the logical display resolution to something lower such as 1680 x 1050.

It will be slightly blurry (which you will quickly get used to) but the lines will be thicker. When I had 1680 x 1050 @ 15.4" I ended up setting it to 1440 x 900 since none of the display scaling options would thicken the 1 pixel wide lines.

You can always go into the Advanced settings on the Display Properties settings tab and change the dpi. By default I believe Dell usually sets high res panels to 120 dpi. This can cause some weirdness in IE and Dell included a fix in some version of quickset. Not sure if they have anything in Control Point for it though.
