I received a new Vostro 1510 from Dell late yesterday. Later today I plan to power it up for the first time. My previous Dell laptop was an Inspiron 1300 which I used most of the time hooked up to it's A.C. adapter rather than use it on battery power but while doing so I never removed the battery from that laptop.

I dropped that laptop last January 2008 and when I spoke to Dell tech support about it then, I told Dell that I was using the Inspiron 1300 most of the time on A.C. power but I never took the battery out of the laptop while I used the laptop on A.C. power.

Dell's tech support guy told me then that I should have removed the battery from the laptop first, stored it while I continued to use my old laptop on A.C. power. Should I do the same when I start to use my new Vostro 1510 or just leave the battery installed in it while I use it on A.C. power for extended periods of time?
