I had a D820 with which I bought a WWLAN card (the Dell 5505 - actually the novatel EU740 device).

I transfered this device into my M6400 - and have managed to get it working just fine.

The drivers for the 5505 wouldn't work on the M6400 - as the install package detected the laptop model and refused to install. to Dell.

So - looking around my system, under the R198803 driver section there was a Novatel subdir, which had a DelLDriverUCM install package. I installed this and it recognised the 5505. I then installed the DELL_MULTI-DEVICE_A01_R194239 software and that gave me the connection software! Yay!

When installing the device, one thing to note is that the WWLAN card that is supposed to be with the M6400 has GPS installed too and thus has 2 arials (sp?). Plug the main arial onto the 5505 and leave the other one disconnected.

(For info, the original device was on XP, and the new system is Vista 64bit).
