My mom was fascinated when I recently used an HDMI cable to connect my Dell Latitude 6430u to my 42" LG 1080p TV. I was watching a movie on Amazon PRIME and wanted to see it on something better than my 14.0" HD+ (1600x900) Anti-glare Display....and it worked perfectly!

Now mom wants to do the same from her Dell Latitude E6410. Despite its age, it still performs very well including watching streaming video. The NVIDIA NVS 3100M graphics card and Samsung 830-series SSD along with the Core i7-620M processor perform better than some much newer systems.

The E6410 has a DisplayPort instead of HDMI. There are plenty of DisplayPort-to-HDMI cables available, but I just wanted to be sure there are no problems with them. I remember that the length of HDMI cables used to be an issue and you waned to go with the shortest one possible. Are there any concerns with the length of a DP to HDMI cable? I'm looking at 15-foot cable from 'Cable Matters', but they also offer a 10ft cable if the longer length is important.

    Thanks for any info!

I'm using both 15 and 25 foot HDMI cables made by Twisted Veins, available on Amazon for under $10 each in conjunction with a DP to HDMI adapter.

If your laptop supports miracast/WiFi direct, try using a miracast/WiFi direct dongle

This means your laptop can stay by the sofa, and you wirelessly cast the screen to the laptop. It's very convenient

My Asus t100 convertible does experience lag sometimes when using Microsoft wireless adapter(no lag issues on a Dell e7450 though)

I'm planning to get an E7450 or E7470 in the next few months. But have a Latitude 6430u (their first business ultrabook) and don't think it has that capability. It has the Dell 1601 WiGig card to connect to the Wireless Dock (which I sold on Ebay two weeks after I got it), but that's it.
