    Hi all,

I wonder if I order E7440 that comes with Dell Wireless 1506 802.11b/g/n card, is it possible to upgrade it to Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 card? (Or other WiFi cards that support dual band)

Will it work? I saw some wireless routers that broadcast 2.4 and 5GHz use special antenna so I'm not sure if it applies to laptop antennas as well.

    Thanks!

Those laptops use half-sized MiniPCI-E cards for the wi-fi (there is a slot labelled 'WWAN' which can be used for a full-wized Wi-Fi card).

Shouldn't be a problem fitting the 7260. The antennas are the same whether you are using 2.4GHz or 5GHz operation in laptops, and its the same SKU for the antenna assembly for all 7440 laptops (ie: 3 u.fl leads are provided for 3 antennas for the half-sized wi-fi card, and 2 u.fl leads are provided for a full-sized WWAN card).

My E7440 was shipped by Dell with a dual band AC 7260 card.

However, while my card uses only two antennae cables but it looks, from this photo, that a third (blue) cable is parked.
