Upgrading parts in Vostro 1500

I want to upgrade the specs:
Current
*Gpu(nVidia 8400M GS)
*Cpu(C2D 1.4GHZ)
*HDD(120GB)
motherboard(?)

Upgrades:
*Gpu(9xxxM GT)
*Cpu(C2D 2.2 GHZ T8xxx)
HDD(500GB)
motherboard(Asrock or a sli motherboard with support upto 8Gb ram Ddr2 or 3.

If anyone could help me.

 

1. gpu- you can only upgrade to the 8600m gt but you have to replace the mobo
2. cpu- yes but there are no t8xxx series that is 2.2 ghz. maybe the t8100 (2.1ghz) or t8300 (2.4ghz)
3. hdd- yes
4. mobo- never. dream on LOL

 

you cannot upgrade the motherboard or graphics card as it is a laptop (?) if it isn't a laptop then check over at DTR, otherwise the HDD can be upgraded to 500Gb, RAM to 4Gb (one would hope...) and CPU can be upgraded to a T8300.

Folks, the GPU on the Vostro 1500 can be replaced without replacing the motherboard.

Nonetheless, you can only upgrade to the 8600M. Furthermore, you can upgrade your motherboard in the sense that you can replace it. If you have the IGP motherboard, you can replace it with the discrete GPU motherboard. As mentioned, CPU and HDD are easy fixes.

 

If you have the intel onboard graphics you would need to upgrade the motherboard. If you already have the 8400m you can upgrade to the 8600m. The Intel is onboard with the LCD socket on the motherboard itself, the motherboard for the 8400/8600 has a proprietary MXM socket on the motherboard and the LCD socket is on the GPU board.

What is AGP AND IGP motherboards. I have a nvidia 8400M GS right now.I wanted a Mobo with DDR3 support.
