I've had my Vostro 1400 w/ Vista Premium for ~15 months now. Windows Explorer crashes randomly, it takes 5-10 minutes to do a full restart, and the power cord falls out if I so much as put it down wrong. Suffice to say, I'm not particularly thrilled with the performance.

For a replacement, I'm considering either an E6500, Thinkpad T400/500, or a MacBook.

The general gist I've received is that:

    - The E6500 isn't vastly different from the Vostro, so I could still end up with the same problems
    - The T400/500 is heavier and the keyboard has some flex, but is a good alternative
    - The MacBook is great but small, and MacBookPro is a bit pricier than the three mentioned

My budget is the 800-1500 range. I generally just use it for programming, but I'd like it to have enough kick to atleast play WoW.

Has anyone had similar problems with a Vostro? Are the Latitudes much better? Any opinions would be appreciated!
