I have a dell e6500 and i really love it, but my screen is the 1280x800

I was wondering... could I simply upgrade to a WXGA+ or WUXGA if i find one and order it?

i think i have a ccfl and the other two are led backlit. would that be a problem, or is that built into the screen itself if i got a new one? lemme know if this is possible, and any good links to order screens from, thanks!

It's built into the screen, but the back panel and bezel will be different for the LED screens, there may be a different ribbon flax cable, and the LED screens don't use inverters. So I am pretty sure you'll need more than just the panel to do the replacement.
A more feasible option would be to find a CCFL screen of the right size, and install that. Dell might not sell it, but it will still work.

LCD screens use a pretty standard connector; in my experience Dell is especially good with this.

    WXGA+

    WUXGA

You're not allowed to sue me if it doesn't work, but if I was in your situation, these are the respective WXGA+ and WUXGA displays I would order. Yes, it does say for E1505... doesn't matter, like I said, they're all pretty much standard. (This all is assuming you went with my suggestion to stick with CCFL and up the res.)

thanks for the pointers, but on those i see no manufacturer. from what ive seen there are some big differences if u get a samsung, lg, or watever.

and im really interested in getting an LED backlit WUXVGA... dont they look much better?

They're brighter, and generally look better, yes. Especially the high nit ones.

If I were you, I'd do some research on what parts are available for the display assembly (ie, back panels, LCD bezels, etc). If there's only one back panel for your laptop, then you already have the right one. If there are multiple (excluding color differences), you don't.

get the 1440x900 ones. It's the same one as the one used in the macbook pro. Highly, highly recommended ( matte screen used in the classic mbp).

    Take a look at this:
    http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/late6500/en/sm/html/display.htm#wp1205665

It's a little unclear whether there are any differences between the CCFL and LED screens other than the fact that the LED one doesn't need the inverter. The document mentions display brackets being different, but I have CCFL and my display brackets didn't have plastic pegs either, and at any rate, it seems like you could just take the brackets from the CCFL and stick them on the LED without the pegs. Only thing I see in the manual that would be of concern is that it mentions in removing the bezel to be particularly careful with the bezels used with LED screens. That could just be a reference to the fact that LED screens are more fragile or something though. Overall, I bet you could replace the CCFL screen with an LED one. However, obviously this isn't a guarantee, and just my educated guess.

You might want to look into the LED backlit WUXGA screens sold for Studio 15's. Those are glossy like you want.
