I ordered a Vostro 1700 with the GeForce 8600GT card. Will it have a TV out? If yes, what type of connector does my TV have to have to accept it?

Depends on what you mean by TV-out. The Vostro 1700 has S-video out ... that can be used to carry video, but not audio; you'd have to use a headphone to component cable for that, I think.

So, for example, how do you play a DVD in your computer and have it show on the TV? Use the sVideo for the picture, and just have the sound come from your laptop?

    Yes, pretty much.

You can connect your laptop to speakers as well.

I could connect my S-Video, and use Audio and Video.

S-video out from dell laptops doesn´t carry audio too? (7 pin connector, when usually is 4 pin for S-video)

I found too this cable for Dell laptops (Ñ7 pin S-video) and I like know if this cable carry video (yellow rca) and audio (red and white) from S-video jack
