    Precision 5510 arriving tomorrow.

Wanted to take a quick poll: who here immediately gets new computer and wipes OS and starts fresh? This eliminated bloatware and make sure all updated drivers are clean installs.

However, can see argument for leaving OS as-is to protect any special Hardware-software driver working together that might be hard to replicate / install drivers in correct order. Also just to get to know how a system "should" feel before wiping.

    Any thoughts?

I always wipe immediately, rather than use the vendor-provided image. (Though for both of my current systems, I opted to transferring the Windows install from my old machine instead of building a new fresh one.)

Create an image of the drive when you get it so that you can revert to it if the reinstall does not go smoothly. Really though, Dell is pretty good about posting all of the drivers that you will need on the support site (though Windows Update will probably pick up most of them), and the order that you install them in doesn't really matter these days. Make sure you understand what each one is for, there may be some utility-type downloads that you do not need to install.
