thoughts on this dell outlet unit... Dell M6400

So I came across this unit at the Dell Outlets... Price is $1,719 I don't know much about its specs but I'm guessing the low price is mainly due to its 2GB Memory, which is obviously not enough for me.

Would it be cheaper for me to upgrade the Memory to 8GB myself or have Dell do it? The unit will be used mainly for 3D modelling, rendering, video editing, graphics etc... I'm currently using an Inspiron 9300 and just about to lose my mind and I'm not even doing any intensive work... just regular surfing and the odd video atm...

also is there anything missing with this unit that I absolutely can't do without?
