The price difference between the base Precision M4400 on the Canadian vs the US sites.

In Canada the base unit is at least $600 more.

    Why.

Um... there doesn't need to be a reason. It's just how it is... lol Sorry to be drab, but no matter what excuse someone replies here it's not really going to well define the difference.
    Just my $0.02...

Dell can charge whatever it wants to charge. Judging by the tone of your post, I can tell that you aren't especially happy about this. Nothing is preventing you from going to other computer manufacturers. I'm sure Dell isn't the only company which sells computers in Canada. If you want the laptop, you pay for it; there are no ifs, ands, or buts. If you contact Dell, I am absolutely sure that will help you negotiate a lower price if you are really serious about going for the laptop.

Remember the exchange rate affects the price a bit too. For the most part, yes Canadian lose out vs USA pricing, but not always. For instance, Canadian prices at Lenovo tend to be slightly better than the US prices (when factoring in exchange rate). My suggestion: if you don't like Dell's pricing, best look for a different computer manufacturer.

Because everything is always more expensive in Canada. What's more, at least 50% of the stuff on ebay are USA-exclusive and they are much cheaper than the other 50%

well... it's also more expensive in Australia...
and it is also becoz of the exchange rate...
now the E6400 is AU$500 more than when I purchased mine one...
coz AUD dropped so dramatically... they have to earn more AUD to convert back to USD
