There is a way to simulate the Fn key on an external USB keyboard ?

    I am using an external USB keyboard with my M6400 and I would like to change screen brightness from the external keyboard, there is a way to do it ?, thanks

    Go into the BIOS by tapping F2 on bootup. I am not sure on this specific model, but on most Dells I've seen an option in the BIOS that is like "key to be used as FN on external keyboard" and it allows you to select ALT, CTRL, or none. None is usually default.

    According the the BIOS, the Fn key emulation only works with a PS/2 keyboard. It uses Scroll Lock to emulate the Fn key.

    Search the forum for FnKeyEmulation to see what the BIOS help says.
