At infrequent and seemingly random intervals, my track pad starts stuttering and becomes unusable, although the mouse pointer still moves. Only a reboot fixes the problem.

I've uninstalled and installed the latest drivers.

    Anybody have a similar problem.

I seem to have something similar on 7440 (ALPS touchpad), but to fix it it is enough to suspend and unsuspend it. Also, pinch to zoom tends to be laggy.
