    Hi there.

    on July 14 or so I bought my Dell Vostro 1510 / 160GB 7200RPM / 15.4 WXGA / Core 2 Duo T5870 2.0GHz (800MHz FSB) / 2GB (667MHz).

    My question is,

Why I can't find any information about my T5870? The guys at dell didn't reply to the two emails I sent.

2nd thing that is bothering me,

With CPU-Z (CPUID), it shows that it's T5870 but also shows the T7250.

I am really confused and dying to know what cpu I do have and what's the different between the two.

    Appreciate your help.

I'm pretty sure it's exactly like a T7250, but without the VT.

EDIT: Oh, and AFAIK, since it's a "special" CPU manufactured only for Dell, HP, etc., it won't be in Intel's website.

Floyd is right. You wont find any info about it on intels website. Basically it is a T7250 that had the VT part of the processor not work so they disable it and sell it as a lesser model (5870) only to oems. That said, its really the same cuz i believe dell disables VT in their laptops (at least the vostros) anyways so it wouldn't matter.

So...You have a 5870 but it will perform exactly the same as a 7250.

Does this mean that even if I buy something with VT like a T8100 for my Vostro 1400, I still won't be able to use VT? I wanted to use VT so I need confirmation :[

It provides a better way to run more than one OS at once.

With the latest Bios's it seems that Dell has included a VT setting. The first Bios's certainly didn't as I looked when peeps were talking about it originally but the last 2 for my Vostro have had a setting to enable VT. Whether it works fine in practice I wouldn't know.
