I have not yet had time to install my main programs and transfer my data files onto my new M6700.

Does anyone have any info/comment on a strange, loud and marked Buzzing-type sound that I always hear on startup just as the windows login tune is finishing and the main start-up programs begin to load?

The only programs that I have installed (and uninstalled and reinstalled several times) so far are MS Office and a Norton internet security; I am waiting to install my main programs until I resolve any potential problems. One potential sign of trouble is that I regularly cannot open these programs (MS Office and Norton) without a restart. The first sign of trouble, however, seemed to be that buzzing-type sound at startup.

Does anyone have experience with or guesses about this buzzing-type sound? Most techs I have talked to think either system files have become corrupted and/or there is a problem with the primary drive (Samsung 830 256 GB 77 SSD).

Does that sound right? Could it be hardware related apart from the SSD or system files?

I have not yet had time to try a clean install (and might do so by following some of the very helpful guides previously posted here for doing so – any links to find them easily would be much appreciated).

More importantly, any info/experience/thoughts on the aforementioned startup Buzzing sound (always at the end of the Windows 7 startup tune, which is muzzled by the buzzing sound) would be especially greatly appreciated.

Thanks for such a great forum.

Sounds like an audio driver issue to me.

i have the problem with the m4700 too...since i had other issues i doesnt cared about it.
with a "clean" installation it was gone but after some win7 updates it came again...so its for sure driver related.
