I have tried so far like 4 types of batteries 2 were generic types and two were OEM Dell batterys that should work for my netbook and they all do the same thing. Basicly the netbook doesn't reconize that the AC is plugged in so it won't charge the battery at all. I' am still having the same problem where the battery says I have over 1000 hours left and saying I have 82% left of power when it's plugged in and then I unplug it it says I have around 4 hours left which is normal. The last one I have now is a OEM Dell battery that is for this netbook since it's the same model number I have as the old one that doesn't hold charge anymore. Since my AC adapter is OEM Dell also it should work perfectly fine. I don't know what to do. I' am kinda frusterated about this since this whole time I been having the same problem and haven't been fixed. If someone can help me I would truely appreciate it.

It basicly doesn't show it's charging when plugged in since on the bios it says it's not connected but the battery health is normal. Also what's strange is that when I' am on my desktop it shows that I have 82% battery life left and 4261 hours and 21 min left which is not true info since I' am plugged in. When I unplug the power cord then it shows around 4 hours of life left. So it looks like to me that the computer thinks it's running on batteries even it's plugged in. But if the connector is bad then it should at least act like 100% using on batteries meaning it should say 4 hours left and battery level should go down alot faster even plugged in.

Oh this is for the Dell Latitude 2100 netbook.

    Thank You

This is your problem. Everything else probably stems from that. Are you getting the "AC adapter not recognized" error?

If you have a known good adapter, you presumably have a DC jack/motherboard issue. The DC jack is replaceable, though.

Well if it is a DC jack problem will the computer show that is has over 1000 hours left when plugged in and show only 4 hours left when unplugged while on idle on desktop screen? Also I don't get an error message on my desktop screen saying that the computer doesn't see the AC adapter. I basicly when I goto my bios and click on battery info it says battery health is normal but AC is not inserted so that's why I though that it was the AC adapters problem but it wasn't apparently since my AC adapter is new and is the right model for my netbook. But if it is forsure just the DC plug then I can order one and replace it but I hope that will fix the problem since I don't have money to buy a new netbook. I just don't know if this is what exactly happens when the DC jack is not working right since I never had this problem before.

If the BIOS does not reconize the AC adaptor the laptop will not charge the batteries. thats is the way the software does power management.

Yes it is possible it is the connector on the laptop, but usually replacing the AC adaptor fixes this problem.

if the connector feels loose than I would lean in that direction.

There are many knock off AC Adaptors out there that look, but do not work like the OEM adaptors.

I think your motherboard is bad. Basically it sounds like you are actually getting power from the AC adapter, but something on the motherboard is broken, so it can't tell.

Obviously I can't guarantee that; it could still be an issue with the jack or adapter. Sometimes this stuff manifests itself in funny ways.

Well that might be a good idea but I have Windows 7 Ultimate loaded on this machine and most of the netbooks on my model doesn't have that. Also if I get a full netbook then I will have two hard drives and two rams since I have 2GB like the one on Ebay. Basicly this netbook has a built in 1GB ram and I just add another 1GB to make it 2GB. Basicly I would have extra parts I won't need. Just wondering but is there a cheaper motherboard than $140 for my model?
