    Thanks Greg.

Would you happen to know if this touchpad is capable of allowing the user to go back or forward (internet page) by swiping the top of the touchpad from left to right?

This thread claims it does, but I just tried it and it does not appear to work, in XP at least. The setting is enabled, but the gesture won't work in firefox. I used to use this as well on older alps. I still think the alps in my 600m was better responsiveness wise, but the driver seems to help a little bit.

Thanks-but I know idea what "UseCustomGUI" means or what it means to "change the value form 1 to 0?"

Ok, I'll see if I can describe the steps better.

    - Hit Winkey+R and type "regedit" without the quotes.
    - Hit the little arrow next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    - Hit the little arrow next to SOFTWARE
    - Hit the little arrow next to Alps
    - Click on (right on the letters) Apoint
    - Scroll to the very bottom of the pane on the right, the second last option is "UseCustomGUI", double click the letters.
    - A window will open, and change the value in the blank from 1 to 0.

You can close the registry now. Then go to Control Panel - Mouse.

There are a number of more options available. Go to "Gestures" and tick the box for "Use back/forward buttons".

I didn't like that feature personally, but what I did like was across from the "Use Scrolling Function", a box "Settings". Tick "Enhance Scrolling Precision" and you can now more finely adjust the width for scrolling.

Actually, you have to change the setting back after you are done fooling in the control panel as mentioned in the original post, or the tray icon (and dell panel) will error and crash out after you reboot. Your settings made in the control panel will stick though.

He is saying that where you change the "1" to a "0", after you change the settings in Control Panel->Mouse, you need to change it back to a "1".
