I have a D430 that was given to me and I'm trying to decide between putting an SSD in, or selling and replacing with something more modern (although don't have the budget for much more than something like an 11z right now).

I already have an E6410 that I use most of the time, but wanting something that I can easily take around with me to meetings, etc. My intended use is light- Office apps, web, Evernote.

Think the D430 will do this for me for another year or two with an SSD?

I put a Renice K3VLAR ZIF SSD in my D420 a few months ago. It's much faster than with the sad old iPod harddisk, but it's still not a quick machine. Not impressed with the performance of the controller in this SSD, it seems to suffer stuttering like the early Jmicron SSDs. I gather other brands may be better.

Renice K3VLAR is supposed to be Indilinx, but I too would not trust these relatively obscure brands. Try to find a Samsung or even one of these smaller netbook ZIF drives, though you will be paying a premium for 1.8 ZIF regardless. It _might_ be a better solution to move up to an E4300 or X200 and get a standard 2.5" SATA SSD.
