    hi,

I'm looking to get a decent soundcard for my M6400.

I had a quick look at the Creative X-FI expresscard solution, but I've seen mixed reviews and it doesn't work with Vista (although I'm using XP currently).

I essentially need a solution that doesn't eat up processing power so USB cards are probably out (I did have an Audigy Zs previously). Any suggestions welcome.

    Cheers!

Thanks, I'll give it a look although I don't need the wireless, so maybe I'll go for the slightly older X-fi without wifi. (Not sure if it works with vista though, so i may to look at the newer model)

Anyway, i found a few potential solution to my sound problems without having to resort to buying a new soundcard. Firstly, Dell is releasing a new driver, and second, there is a way to improve the headphone sound here. Apparantly setting the Pc speaker to mute in audio control panel also works.
