Any options besides SpeedFan 4.37 and I8kfan...?

I have an E6500, SpeedFan dosen't work with it. I8Kfan not very good either, for some strange reason I can't monitor "State of of first fan" any more - it just states --- rpm. The same with GPU temp, Memory temp, Chipset temp and HDD temp. Only CPU temp is available, currently at 28C idle.

I tried to uninstall and run I8Kfan and install it again, still no state of the fan etc.

It makes me a bit sad, the the fan has to run at such a low temp. Looking forward for a new BIOS-update from Dell which hopefully controls the fan better - it seems that a lot of E6500 and E6400 owner have problems with fan-noise. Currently running the A09 Bios.

Who should we contact at Del asking for a new BIOS-update with better fan-control? They make great notebooks but seems to forget that a lot of users are annoyed with fan-noise.

Haven't been able to find the A08 and A07 versions anywhere, it seems that the fan-problems started from A09. I've also tried A02-03-05-06.

If anyone know where I can download A08 or A07 BIOS for the E6500, please let me know.

Not sure, but possibly Notebook Hardware Control. Tried to confirm, but their site is down.

I8kfanGUI is still reading the fan speed on my E6400. However, it reports my CPU speed as 2.4GHz even when it is at 800MHz. The fan is so quiet at 3000rpm that, unless i am in a very quiet room, I either have use I8kfanGUI or put my ear to the fan exhaust.

What I have noticed is that when the fan comes on then it stays on for 10 minutes. I think this is because Dell are trying to reduce the thermal cycling of the nVidia GPU (which I don't have).

The other possible factor is that there is a 5C difference in the reported CPU core temperatures depending on what program / version is being used.

Not all BIOS versions get to public release. The released version went straight from A06 to A09.
