should i just install it, and then use the drivers from the drivers disc and then update, and this it?

any programs that dell has that it is recommended to NOT install?

    Thanks!

You cannot use 32-bit drivers on 64 bit vista, so if your Dell came with 32 bit, you'll need to head over to dell.com/support, find your system components (easiest way is by the service tag on the bottom of the laptop) and download the 64 bit drivers/apps and burn them to disk. (on the drivers & downloads page for your laptop, click the arrow beside the "Operating System" dropdown and choose Vista 64 bit) It's also a good idea to print out (or save as a text file on to the cd you make) the order in which you install the drivers- http://support.dell.com/support/top...install_order?c=us&cs=28&l=en&s=dfb&~lt=print

    Good Luck

    Ricky:)

Reinstalling/Installing Windows doesn't affect the BIOS on the laptop, so if you have the latest one already, it'll remain on your laptop after you install Windows.

The Dell Driver disk comes with 64 bit drivers as well. Some of the drivers online are newer though. The bios has nothing to do with the OS so it doesn't matter when you update it.

The thing I would avoid would be the security software package... Unless you *really* want to use the fingerprint reader (if you have one).

Always get the latest of everything from the dell support site.
