I did a few searches and couldn't really find any answers so thought I'd just start a new thread and ask my questions.

As a security professional I noticed that we have the smart card reader on the E6400 and being interested in playing around with the technology I thought I'd buy some to use with the laptop. However, I can't seem to find ANY smart cards linked either from dell directly or even recommend in forums like here. Has anyone bought and is using a smart card with their E6400? Do you have any recommendations on what cards to use and where to get them? Precisely what have you set your smart card up to do, I know it can be used as part of the logon process or as the entire logon process but am curious about using it in some more advanced roles as well.

    Any information would be welcome.

    thanks,

    Hello,
    With a E4200, I have bought a .NET Gemalto Smart Card http://www.gemalto.com/products/dotnet_card/index.html
This card is natively compatible with Vista and Server 2008 (win logon, e-mail protection). I have read somewhere that it's the solution used by Microsoft's employees.
    Cdlt,

In Taiwan you can use ATM via the smartcard slot. Quite convenient.
