Can anyone advise regarding what laptops an Sierra MC7455 card is compatible with? I have several Dells including an e6230 and e6330 and "in theory" I think it should work in the mini pcie slot but Sierra doesn't seem to give any info regarding what laptops/hardware are compatible with this card. Their marketing blurb suggests some Lenovos, but no specifics. I'd like to upgrade from my current 100mbps mini pcie cellular card to the 300mbps that the MC7455 provides but they aren't cheap and I'm not going to get one unless I'm pretty sure it will work. In my experience user feedback/experience beats everything else. Thanks..

I know Lenovos and HP's have so-called "whitelists" for wifi and cellular modem cards (ie. only models on the whitelists work), but Dells don't. And if you have the appropriate drivers already, what wouldn't / couldn't be compatible, i wonder?

I'm pretty sure the SIM card connections are pretty standardized, so...

That being said, it might be worth double-checking potential return / refund policies, wherever you plan to get that faster card from. If you don't stand to lose (too) much, it may well be worth the experiment(?).

This Sierra page says that the MC series use what is now the older MiniCard standard (cards prefixed EM use the M.2 socket which Dell changed to around 3 years ago - more recent than the E6230 / E6230). As noted above, Dell don't whitelist these cards so I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't be compatible.

I have a MC7700 in an E6440. Works great. The newer cards probably would work even better, so long as they're miniPCI-E. The MC7700 also worked great in a Latitude D830.

If you buy one off of eBay or similar, one 'problem' is that the Windows 10 drivers don't seem to expose a serial (ie: "COM port") interface to them. But you can get such exposed under Windows 7 with the Sierra Wireless drivers.

Also, the standard password is "A710" if you have to unlock the thing.
