The E6500 I'm using has the P9500 (2.53 ghz, 6mb cache), Nvidia 160M, 2gb RAM, and 80gb 7200RPM HD. When I try to play a 1080P trailer from Apple's site, the thing doesn't seem like it can handle it. It's not smooth at all. I let it DL all the way too, so it's not a buffering issue or anything.

I was planning to use this on a 1920x1200 display, but if it can't even play the 1080p trailer properly...

No, something is definitely wrong. Even the Intel card can handle that.

Download RMClock to see what speed your CPU is operating at.

he said download rmclock not benchmarking programs

use rmclock to watch your cpu's speed move up and down

set the battery icon in the bottom right to high performance

use rmclocks profiles to force it to maximal performance

then if your looking for cooler operating temps and longer cpu life you can adjust each multipliers voltage with rmclock make sure you stress test each multiplier for a good while untill it fails then go up a notch or two

i managed to bring my 2.8ghz cpu a great deal and gave me much more battery life when fully stressed considering the power it draws

also make sure you have all the latest codecs etc installed and without playing the video check task manager and sort the cpu bar so that it displays the highest usage tasks first so you can see if there is anything hogging your system if so stop the process , dont worry about system idle process its supposed to be there ! mess around let us know if you fix it and what fixed it

Was there any resolution to the performance problem with the E6500?

I am using a E6500 with the same CPU + (NVS 160M, 4gb 800mhz ddr2) and can't even render video in 1440 x 900. System latency is also generally quite high.

Update your system's drivers, specifically those relating to the GPU and the Audio (also those Intel Sata).

The newest ones (8.8 I think are the latest) should help with that. You may have to get them directly from Intel though.

i suffer from the audio problems and some latency now and then but i just get on with it just now iv seen alot of talk on the workarounds for it but im waiting untill its a simple driver download as it shouldnt be doing this in the first place anyways

i would try the driver theros123 posted but i will let someone else give it a go and report how they find it as i got bored trying to fix it before :)
