I'd believe it was the GM45, the same as the E4200 that I've got.

The "M" in GM45 would mean mobile.

Not exactly true. In Latitude E4200/E4300, the chipset is Intel GS45. "S" means "Small form factor", like the processor (SP9300 or SP9400).

In Latitude E6400/E6500 and E5400/E5500, if you have discrete graphics, your chipset is PM45 and if you have integrated graphics, the GM45.

Image: on the left GM45, on the right GS45.

Well, seems like I've the same troubles as OP. I just cannot decide whether I should get the E4300 or the E6400. Speaking of differences: The E6400 has 4 USB ports and also a DisplayPort connector, whereas the E4300 has only 3 USB ports and no DisplayPort connector. But I think I would go for a docking station anyhow...

Btw.: Can anybody tell me if I can operate two 1600x1200 displays in twin view mode with the GMA 4500MHD and the E-Port docking station?

So, any suggestions on how to decide are welcome!

See this thread about the E6400 and two monitors.

For me, one of the deciding factors is to have the extra real estate of 1440 x 900.

I was going to get the E4300.

But for this price, I got me a Vaio Z540. I love it and no regrets.

This is my first time I dont buy a Dell biz laptop.
