Try blowing some compressed air through it. The slot in my E6400 seems to accumulate dust pretty quickly, and it will stop reading cards if enough dust accumulates.

That didn't work. It has to be a Dell/Ricoh Driver or Microsoft Vista Issue. I was working till I delete something in clean up. I never set a restore date till after the problem started.

Device Manager should list a Secure Digital host controller. Is it there? If not, is there any unrecognised device?

Also, the extended power management in DCP includes the option to disable the reader.

If it is listed in Device Manager but doesn't show up as a disk drive when you insert a card then it's not reading the card properly. If you have tried more than one card without success then suspicion falls on the reader itself. Try to look inside and make sure that all the contacts are in line.
