After some reading on the forum, I performed the same procedure on my D630 (w/Intel graphics) after I blew the CCFL after a fall. I ordered a full screen assembly from ebay as it would be easier to do the swap. I assumed that the laptop would automatically identify the 1440x900 display but unfortunately that wasn't the case. In the graphics properties, the highest setting is 1280x800.

I checked the BIOS to see if something needed to be changed there but no where are you able to do this.

I was starting to think that I was sent a WXGA display instead. In trying to avoid taking the assembly apart (which would basically circumvent the reason for buying a complete assembly), I checked the part number of the flex cable as there are dedicated cables (according a thread on the forum) and it checked out as a flex cable for a D620 WXGA+ display.

This is what was on the cable of the replacement display assembly.

    HAL00_LVDS_CABLE
    P/N: DC02000870L
    Rev 2.0 DEC/02/07
    FOXCONN

I can't see why there would be a difference between them. Is there?

Could I have been possibly given a WXGA display instead?

I'm trying to avoid taking apart the display assembly. I'm thinking I may have to. As it stands, it works fine (using it as we speak) but I would have really like to have the WXGA+.

    Any suggestions?

Weird, I did exactly what you are trying to do and had no problems and didn't need to swap the LVDS cable. One mistake I made was just hibernating to HDD, swapping the screen and bringing out of hibernation. That kept the old resolution. I had to shutdown and restart in order to get the new resolution. You need to check the panel is WXGA+ by pulling the screen apart.I suspect you might have a WXGA LCD panel....

1400x900 definitely works on D630. However I bought the lcd panel together with the back cover and cables, so the installation is easier and problem free.

There are definitely two different cables for the D630/D620. One will support WXGA and WXGA+, and the other will only support WXGA. You can visually determine whether or not yours supports both: on the WXGA-only cable half the pins on the LCD connector will not be connected to anything.
