I recently started a new topic under the "What Notebook Should I Buy?" thread. I now realize it may be more appropriate here so I am reposting it. I will admit I am new to the forum, so I apologize for the mistake. I will post both a copy of the old thread below as well as the link and you may respond to whichever you'd like. Thanks!

QHD+ vs. FHD and other resolutions

"To many, screen resolution can be a huge factor in determining which notebook they want to buy. I'm currently in the market for a Dell Precision M3800 workstation. There are two configurations for it's 15.6" screen, FHD (1920x1080) and QHD+ (3200x1800). I will be using it primarily for university school work and running engineering software. Normally, I'd think it a no-brainier to go with a higher resolution screen. However, I've heard about numerous issues where programs are not scaled properly, text is too small, DPI problems, etc. I'm looking to know if these difficulties have been resolved by software companies like Adobe and Autodesk, or if they are even valid concerns. Are there advantages to the FHD over QHD+? How much will it really make a difference? Also, if I were to purchase an external display, should it match the laptop res?

Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!"
