    Hi,

after calling my Dell Sales Rep I tried to order a Studio 17... she said I'm an SME customer and wouldn't sell me one ;) So, 5 Minutes later I ordered a Vostro 1710. 20% cheaper than the Studio 17, dedicated graphics, looked good.

    1. Anyone too ordered the WUXGA resolution (1920x1200). How is the screen? Bright? Too glossy?
    2. What about heat?
    3. I read about some flex with the keyboard, but do you generally like the keyboard?

Could anyone please post some pictures? It'll take more than 4 weeks until I get mine...

That is a bunch of horseradish. If you really want the Studio, call a different rep.

Might be, don't know. She said she wouldn't sell home & home-office equipment (Studio line) to SME customers.

But that's ok. I only need the laptop as a windows software development machine. My primary laptop will remain my MacBook Pro. I was just totally fed up with Bootcamp (serious issues with a bootcamp partition and spotlight) and vmware. And even with dual boot and/or vmware you can't make the keyboard a windows keyboard on the MBP ;)

So, the Vostro 1710 is ok for me, because it's cheaper than the Studio 17 (which I did not know...)

I have the 1700 with the WUXGA+ (1920x1200) and Im so in love with this laptop its unhealthy. I use it when out and about and its awsome, but it spends most of its time on my desk at home connected to a 24in LCD and it makes me cry happy tears every time I enter my home office. As for the rest of the build quality the 1700 has no flex in the keyboard or the screen. Lacking fancy styling (I prefer the spartan look) gets me awesome build quality that makes me not fear taking this thing on the go.
