I just got the barebones version of the Samsung 830 and it doesn't fit. Does anyone know if I need a spacer for this laptop?

I believe that the kit version of the Samsung 830 comes with a plastic fitting for it to fit in a 2.5 inch/9.5mm - or standard notebook size for drives. The 830 itself is size 7mm designed to fit smaller ultrabooks, I think. You should be able to purchase a drive caddy and other requisite fitting parts from Dell and/or Ebay/Radioshack-type place for putting 2.5 inch drives into your computer. Good luck. Happy computing...

Aren't the E6410 and E6400 almost the same construction wise? I was able to fit the 7mm Samsung 830 in the primary HDD bay of my E6400 without any spacer.

It will fit, you just need to be careful and make sure it slides against the bottom of the slot so that the SATA connector will line up.

Once it is all the way in, it won't move around anymore.

I had to add a piece of cardboard held with a rubberband but it worked finally.
