I just purchased from Ebay a brand new screen complete ready to bolt in for $135.00 plus shipping. This screen has the glass cover edge 2 edge and the colors and clarity are simply breathtaking. What an amazing deal for that price. I was worried there was some kind of catch like dead pixels or scratches or something bad, but nothing but pure perfection. I wish this screen would fit my other 17" laptops cause I would order more for sho.

Does the screen use a standard 40pin connector so I could bolt it into any 17in 16:10 laptop?

Reading some older threads about it, no apperantly not. It has a special connector and others who tried to make it work had issues like lines and black screens etc... Too bad really as it is a totaly amazing screen, best I have evr seen.

I have a Precision M6400 on which the backlight just burned out. (It had the normal WUXGA CCFL display.) Can I get one of these K583F from eBay and just swap it in? Are the connections back to the machine the same and compatible? (I've had the machine apart to fix things before, so installing it will not be a problem.)
Thanks in advance for your advice.

In the interest of helping anyone in the future who may read this, the K583F works perfectly with my standard Precision m6400. The display is beautiful, and I would highly recommended it to anyone keeping an m6400 alive.
