I bought a M2400 some days ago. I like it for most of the features: eSata, nice docking station, nice LED screen, backlite keyboard, etc. But I can't live with the noisy fan that is on way too often when the laptop is docked. I mean, I'm not using some CPU intentive programs here, I'm browsing the web and listening to music and the fan turns on! And it's really noisy!

I want to return the laptop to Dell and have a complete refund. Is it possible? Do you have any tips I should know before contacting Dell about this?

    Thanks a lot.

Be honest and tell them what's wrong. How long has it been since you purchased it?

The invoice date is 12/29/08. Less than three weeks ago.

But the thing is I don't want them to suggest me to replace the laptop, I want a refund.

try a diff BIOS if you're really that happy with it and it's just the fan that's bugging you....has been the same case with the m4400 and latitudes it seems

What version of the BIOS should I try? And where can I find older version of the BIOS?

    Thanks for the help.

I read the A03 BIOS may help with the fan problem? I just found it there. I'll try it.

Seriously, I'm thinking about a refund because of the fan problem, nothing else. Of course I would buy another notebook then! I'm looking at the Lenovo T400.

But I'm currently trying the A03 BIOS and it seems to works well. I'll update this thread when I'll know if it really fixes my problem.
