    Hi, all.

I returned a Dell Latitude machine due to various issues, however, after I shipped it to Dell, I realized that I forgot to take out a 4GB memory. I felt myself stupid immediately. All blame on myself.

Should I call them to ask them to send the memory back to me? I supposed I could pay the shipping.

Bought the memory for $20 long time ago and now the price has gotten up to $45.. I'm getting my new laptop soon and I'm not really happy to spend that money again. Any suggestion?

You will be caught up in the infamous customer care "transferring-your-call" loop. Besides it will take them unknown amount of time to find your machine and dissect. And I doubt they will provide that service in the first place. All in all, probably not going to happen. (They won't locate your machine, dissect it, wrap it up, etc) It's too much of a hassle.

I bought 8gb (2x4gb) kit for $50 flat on ebay. You should be able to find a single 4gb stick for around $25 again.

You should definitely call and ask, but I doubt they will actually return it, even if you pay for the shipping.

Let it go and learn a lesson. Not worth the hassle for an old, used, component. Especially considering you're getting a new machine.

Eh, it's just a lesson learned. I doubt they'll ship back the old RAM anyway.

I'd be more concerned about whether you left any person data on the hard drive when you returned it.
