sure i read somewhere it had the option of end to end monitor "infinity" type such as an infinity pool, there only seems to be 2 screen options on there.

    17" WXGA+ UltraSharp Display (1440x900) Resolution
17" WUXGA UltraSharp Display (1920x1200) Resolution
17" WUXGA RGB LED Back-Lit Display (1920x1200) Resolution
17" WUXGA RGB LED Edge To Edge Back-Lit Display (1920x1200) Resolution

the bottom two dont seem to be an option on the customize section at the time of writing, perhaps they will update it shortly.

Surely in this case - of the edge-to-edge that means the total screen size is increased so it will be a 17 point something screen instead, anyone got any info/ideas on that?

I would be very surprised if that was the case. These LCD screens are manufactured only in standard sizes, so having a screen that is, say, 17.15" instead of 17" would mean somebody is manufacturing them in quite low numbers, and at correspondingly sky-high prices. More than likely it is just the glass on top of the LCD that is edge-to-edge.

oh really - so in this case its meaningless?
I was imagining that the point of the edge to edge thing would be so that you could place a similiar edge to edge type external monitor next to the laptop screen and itd give you one continuous desktop space.
Anyone have any experiance with these screens.

Yeah, I think it's just a cosmetic thing.

You have to figure that in order for your standard video card resolutions to remain the same, yet occupy a screen just a small percentage bigger, that the engineering costs of producing such a unique display would far outweigh the benefit of having marginally more real estate.

And I really doubt they would make a 2nd case for the m6400 that is just a bit smaller so the pixels could be flush with the edges of the display.

Probably just a glossy insert that gives the illusion of edge to edge instead of having the recessed look.
