    Hey Guys,
    with the recent nVidia bad chips news:
    http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/10/all-nvidia-8400m-8600m-chips-faulty/
    it has become more important to know how hot nVidia chips are getting inside Laptops.

    so I'll start with my computer:

    nVidia 8600M GT 256MB (Stock Clocks)
    Idle Temp: 50C
    Load Temp: 65C

    measured by ATI tool and Riva Tuner

    Other Relevant Info:

    Dell Vostro 1500
    BIOS A06 (very recent, released last month) i didn't check temps before applying this one. can anyone having an earlier BIOS report his Temps Plz.
    nVidia Driver 177.35

    Cheers

    NVIDIA 8600M GT 256MB (Overclocked, See sig)

    Idle: Around 55-60C (I force 3D Performance mode, if I don't some wierd downclocking happens, and it doesn't go back to 3D Performance)
    Load: Usually 70C

    Driver is 177.41, and BIOS is A08

    Occasianally when I play Call of Duty 4 for too long, the game freezes....flashes a few times.. then goes back to normal.

    When I quit the game, Vista tells me the driver stopped responding and has been restarted. I checked the temps the last time this happened and it was only about 70 C.

    Dont know If I have a faulty 8600mGT.

    Idle : around 53 C
    Load : around 68 C

    my specs

    * Vostro 1500
    * A05 Bios upgrade
    * 2.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo
    * 256 MB 8600M GT GDDR2
    * 1280 x 800 LCD Screen
    * 160GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive
    * 3 GB Ram
