Replacement of standard keyboard with backit keyboard on M4800

    I have a Dell Precision M4800 that has a standard keyboard and I want to replace it with a backlit keyboard. is that possible?

    Yes, it is very straightforward. Download the manual from the Dell support site and look at the steps for replacing the keyboard. You can swap regular for backlit or vice versa, it doesn't matter.

    Just take care when removing the bezel -- it should pop right off -- as any sharp tools could scratch the chassis. The biggest problem I had was keeping track of the tiny screws, so use a cup or lid. And remember, no Gorilla Mitts.

    Ice cube trays work well for holding sets of screws in the order they're needed.
