From what I have read I am under the impression that new Dell systems often are delivered with many unnecessary programs that use system resources and slow down the computer. I will be receiving a new Latitude E6400 with Vista Ultimate in the next few days and I am unsure whether or not I should reinstall the operating system or leave it as is. Also should I go for 32-bit or 64-bit?

    Thanks in advance!

Dell Business laptops are shipped with almost no bloatware. You don't need to reinstall OS. I would run it for a few days first. You also probably need to update some drivers. The latest Intel Matrix Storage driver available from Intel seems to be a better choice than the one on Dell's website.

Ask yourself what do you intend to use the 64 bits OS for, specific programs or to load up on memory, geek factor?

Just go with 64 bit if you have 4+ gigs of RAM with your new system. It won't make the hugest difference in terms of speed, but it will help (and has future expandability). Also, Dell business laptops do not come with any bloatware whatsoever but there's no harm in doing a clean install.
