    Hi.

I have a Dell Latitude E5530. Upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10 in December 2015. Had Dell Bkup & Recovery app with Win 8.1.
A Recovery Partition exist (8.6GB) see screenshot below.

    (Q) Did the Windows 10 upgrade transfer my Win 8.1 factory recovery partition or is this a Win 10 RP?

I want to install DBaR app v1.9(for win 10) to create a Dell Factory Recovery Media on a flash drive.
    (Q) Should I delete the existing Recovery partition before creating the Dell Recovery Media.

If this RP was carried over, will the DBaR v1.9 give me a snapshot of my current Win 10 or create a true Win 8.1 factory recovery partition?

    Thanks.

    TC.

In Minitool Partition Wizard right click on the partition and select Explore to see the dates on the files.

On my E7450 which I upgraded to Windows 10 soon after getting the computer the files in Dell > Image are dated before I received the computer so they must be the as-supplied OS (Win 8.1).

I'm not 100% certain how DBaR works. I wouldn't delete what is in the recovery partition because one can never have too many backups. If you run DBaR to make recovery media you can then inspect the contents and figure out whether it has created it from your Win 10 installation or made a copy of the recovery partition contents. I haven't tried this.

    Hi John.

Right clicked File Explorer using Mini Tool on Recovery Partition.

Dell Image Part0001 shows a Creation/Modified date being similar 2013.

    (see Screen Shots 7 & 6 below).

Does that infer a Recovery Partition having Windows 8.1?

    I converted to win 10 on 12/24/2015.

Yes. Your factory recovery image, which includes the two 3.80 GB swm files, is dated Feb 2013.

I don't use DB&R, so can't help with that part of your question.
