I just recently had my M6600 replaced because the GPU went out and they couldn't fix it. They changed the GPU, motherboard, ram, and even CPU and still no graphics with a video memory error message from the diagnostics.

Anyways, new system here and everything has been great, but tonight I've been noticing that every several minutes it'll act as if there was a touchscreen tap. I have the touchscreen option, but am nowhere near my laptop, using an auxiliary display, keyboard and mouse. When the "event" happens, it looks like a touchscreen tap in the lower right area of the screen. Same place every time, changing the location of the cursor.

Anyone ever had this issue? Yes, the screen is clean with nothing touching it...

I'm actually having that issue randomly aswell. However for me I believe it started when I installed Windows 8 on this machine. Currently running the Release Preview as my everyday OS. Random touch events happen every now and then. Seems to be the same spot each time as well.

Have you tried to calibrate the touch screen? The calibration tool does not appear to work for Windows 8 yet so I can't try it.

Try running the "Touch Tuning" from the N-trig DuoSense Digitizer Settings. This is different from the windows calibration where you touch the screen. The Touch Tuning will instruct you not to touch the screen while it is calibrating. What the Touch Tuning process does is determine a baseline for the digitizer so it understands what touches to ignore. Things like where the bezel may be touching or variations from manufacturing. The calibration where you are asked to touch the screen simply uses your inputs to align the digitizer to the lcd.

You should also make sure your screen is clean and that there is no debris caught between the digitizer and the bezel.

If none of these issues resolve the problem you may have a hardware issue. I had a couple of bad touch screens that started out with random touches that over time got worse & worse. Both ended up getting replaced under warranty.

    Good luck!

I think I figured out how to fix my issue. When I get home from work and plug my laptop up to my monitor/keyboard/speakers, if I push down on the HDMI cable some I don't get these random touchscreen tap events. If I plug it in and don't push down, or pull up a little on it, I'll get them once every minute or two. Weird, but clearly some kind of hardware issue.
