    Hello,
I have a Latitude e6220, and I need to upgrade to 16GB RAM. I have heard that only certain BIOS versions allow 16GB RAM. I will be running 64-bit Linux, so OS limitations will not be an issue. Does anyone know what BIOS revisions allow 16GB RAM?
    Thanks

Not sure where you heard that from. I have a E6220 from when it was originally released nearly 6 years ago. Had 16GB in it from the first day. Just get whatever is the latest bios available right now and install it.

Pretty much this, as far as I know, anything core i has been limited by the CPU memory controller and SODIMM sockets available rather than anything in the BIOS unlike in 2005~ish where there were some laptops that couldn't take more than x amount of RAM due to BIOS limits.

It also depends on what the CPU supports. What CPU does your machine have?

That CPU does support 16GB RAM max.

I know, that's why I said I've had 16GB in my E6220 since it was new nearly 6 years ago with very early version of the BIOS.
