Cool, glad to hear you are happy with it so far. Yeah, I knew I wasn't getting something too stylish, but for heavy duty audio recording I need power that doesn't come in very sleek machines for the price.

Is the WiFi finder on the D830 useful? I'll take your advice and get rid of Quickset if it does in fact slow the system down...

It all depends on your circumstances if its useful. the main thing about it is being able to keep he notebook closed and even powered off and use it to find hospots. If you are going to areas where you arent sure if there is a hotspot and you want to check before u power up, then its cool.

When the system is on, the wifi finder switch can also call up the wifi configurator so u can connect to access points. So rather than click on the icon by the clock, you can pull up the same screen with the switch.

Personally, I like the switch the most because of is ability to power off all the radios at once when I get one a plane.

Thanks for the replies. The D830 I've ordered has 4GB of RAM, so I suppose I have nothing to worry about on that front.
That WiFi finder sounds pretty cool- with my current Toshiba, there have been many times on the road when I've had to power up just to see if I was in a hotspot. That may not seem like a big deal but it's an inconvenience... :)
